THE PROPERTY
A 10-minute ride from Cebu’s airport and you’ll find yourself in one of the most exclusive boutique resorts in the Philippines, Abaca Boutique Resort. The resort’s main gate is very discreet, you would never know it’s there unless you keep a watchful eye for the small golden sign bearing the resort’s name against a slate-colored gate.
A short windy pathway thru the dense foliage brings you to the resort’s restaurant, and from there, your personal butler brings you to your own suite/villa. With only 6 suites, 3 villas, a spa and a restaurant, Abaca Boutique Resort is clearly more than any rudimentary beach resort chain in the area.
Bewitchingly in tune with the environment, the hotel’s design embodies organic minimalism– neutral earth tones, stone, and wood. Our Seaview Pool Villa comes with its own private plunge pool and lots of space to just vegetate.
The property is also a gastronomic delight with their in-house restaurant. Chef Jason Hyatt of The Abaca Group is the guy behind the best restaurants in Cebu– Phat Pho, Tavolata, Beqaa, Maya, Abaca Baking Company, Luncheonette, and Red Lizard; and if that’s any indication, Abaca Boutique Resort‘s restaurant seriously does not disappoint. You can eat beneath the shade of the cabanas, by the pool, or at the restaurant where casual but no less fabulous cuisine is served.
The resort also has their own spa. Being a small resort, they only have 2 treatment rooms but you can request to have your massage done in the privacy of your own villa, or even down by the pool cabanas.
Abaca Boutique Resort truly is unique because it offers an experience which appeals to a much more sophisticated clientele. Ones that are seeking to be relaxed, refreshed and inspired.
WHAT WE LOVE:
QUIET. Even when the resort is full-house, it never gets noisy nor feel crowded. The main pool is usually quiet and under-patronised… perfect place to finish that book!
FILIPINO HOSPITALITY. Our stay wouldn’t have been perfect without the personable service given by everyone in the resort– from our butler, the hotel staff, the restaurant staff, the chef and the rest of his team, they always make our stay memorable.
ISLAND HOPPING. Boating is a great activity when in Cebu. You can ask assistance from your butler in booking a yacht, or go local and get a bangka(local boat) and board from from the resort’s dock.
